CAA/FAB COMPETITIONS IN THE ALMERIA PROVINCE

GENERAL RULES AND CONDITIONS OF PLAY

 

The following shall apply to all CAA/FAB competitions in the Almeria Province.

1. The Laws of the Sport of Bowls – Crystal Mark Third Edition.

2. The appointed ‘Controlling Body’ shall comprise the FAB Delegate (Almeriénse), the FAB Competition Secretary and the Vice President of the Costa de Almeria Umpires and Markers Association (CAUMA). However, see 3.1 below. N.B. CAUMA will be responsible for supplying any markers and/or umpires.

3. Inter-Club Competitions played between sides.

3.1 In the absence of a designated umpire or member of the Controlling Body, the ‘Captains of the Day’ of the two sides may assume that role, subject to non-violation of the Laws of the Sport of Bowls and the rules below.

3.2 Reserves. Prior to the start of a match, the ‘Captains of The Day’ shall exchange/ register the names of their reserve players.

3.3 Substitutes.

Fours: Substitutes shall be selected from the registered reserves. If no registered reserve is available, the team must play minus one player, adjust the number of bowls used by the lead and second player and deduct 25% of its score gained from that point onwards. (as per Law 39 subsection 39.1 & 39.2)

Triples: Substitutes shall be selected from the registered reserves. If no registered reserve is available the team must play minus one player. The number of bowls used by each team shall be adjusted as follows. The skip of the triples shall play with four bowls, with the lead and second player playing with 2 bowls each. The players in the opposing team, i.e. the skip and the lead shall play with four bowls each. The team playing as a pair shall deduct 25% of its score gained from that point onwards.

Pairs: Substitutes shall be selected from the registered reserves. If no registered reserves are available, the game shall be conceded.

Singles: No substitutes are permitted during the course of a game. Law 33 subsection 33.7 applies. (Unless, if and when agreed nationally interpretation of the Laws is such as to allow a substitute.)

4. Curtailment of Play

If play is curtailed, with the agreement of the Captains of the Day and/or Greenkeepers the following conditions will apply:

4.1 Side Games & Round Robins

a) Fours, Triples & Pairs Games.

If play is suspended, and cannot continue on the same day, provided at least 2 thirds of the scheduled number of ends have been completed, the game shall be considered to be completed and the scores count. Otherwise the game shall be considered to have been drawn.

b) Singles.

If play is suspended, and cannot continue on the same day, provided 15 ends have been played, the game shall be considered to be completed and the scores count. Otherwise the game shall be considered to have been drawn.

4.2 Knock Out Games

a) Fours, Triples & Pairs Games

If play is suspended, and cannot continue on the same day, provided at least 2 thirds of the scheduled number of ends have been completed, the game shall be considered to be completed and the scores count. If at that stage the game is drawn, the result will be determined by the scores on the penultimate end.

b) Singles.

If play is suspended, and cannot continue on the same day, provided 15 ends have been played, the game shall be considered to be completed and the scores count. If at that stage the game is drawn, the result will be determined by the scores on the penultimate end.

5. Withdrawing from Competitions

Once a draw has been carried out, competitors who withdraw from F.A.B. Competitions without an acceptable reason may be subject to sanctions such as a limited suspension from future F.A.B. Competitions. Bowlers are reminded not to enter tournaments if they feel that they are not able to play in all rounds and finals. Any penalties will be decided by the F.A.B. Committee in each individual case.
